WiFi signal is 4g router-centric and spread around in the form of radio waves. The signal can penetrate some obstacles, but is easily interfered or absorbed by thick walls, metal objects and large electrical appliances, so the location of 4g router has a direct impact on propagation and reception of signals.

1.Many people mistakenly think that the signal at the top of the 4g router antenna is the best, so they point the top of the 4g router antenna toward us to get better network signal. In fact, when the 4g router antenna is working, the wireless network signal will spread along the vertical direction of the antenna in all directions so the signal at the top is the worst. Generally speaking, it is enough to place antenna vertically to the ground, this not only reduce the impact of the signal dead spot at the top of the antenna on the device, but also maximize the signal coverage area.

2.For 4g router with multiple antennas, it isn’t better for more centralized antennas, it is recommended to spread them slightly to avoid mutual signal interference. Do not point all antennas in same direction, point in different directions to cover more space and improve WiFi signal coverage and strength. Put antennas horizontally, vertically, or diagonally at various angles to achieve optimal signal coverage. If you need strongest signal, you should stagger each antennas, place them at different angles. Divide a plane into six equal parts at 180 degrees, place each antennas at an angle of 30 degrees, this is because the signal is best in the direction perpendicular to the antenna, so that the signals in different directions are strong.

3.4g router should be kept away from TV set, wireless mice, microwave oven, induction cooker, fan, air conditioner or other electrical equipments, otherwise 4g router may be subject to signal interference.

4.One basic principle is to place 4g router as centrally as possible as close to main use area. WiFi signals propagate directly and will not detour when encountering obstacles, they will be blocked if they cannot penetrate. Some people place 4g router in a cabinet or in a corner for convenience and beauty, 4g router emits signals all around, these edges or isolated locations can easily affect the router’s signal. Try to stay away from obstructions such as cabinets and walls.

5.Don’t place 4g router in metal boxes on the roof because metal cannot be penetrated. Only wired router, but not wireless router can be placed in metal-cased weak current boxes.

6.Keep as few partitions as possible as most of the load-bearing walls of houses are made of reinforced concrete nowadays, especially in high-rise buildings, the steel bars in the walls stagger into a network to form an electromagnetic shielding network, so after a load-bearing wall is separated, the signal will attenuate by more than half, and generally cannot penetrate two walls.

7.4g router’s WiFi signal will become weaken as the distance increases. If 4g router is placed on the ground or very low, WiFi signal will be blocked easily by tables, chairs, sofas and other objects. It is recommended that 4g router be placed more than one meter above the ground to allow better signal propagation.

8.Check whether 4g router at home is dual-band or not, if it has 2.4GHz and 5GHz working frequency then it is dual-band router. 2.4GHz frequency has good wall penetration performance but the bandwidth is relatively narrow and easy to traffic jam. 5GHz bandwidth is wider, but wall penetration performance is weak, it can accommodate more devices and less likely to cause network congestion. You can choose which frequency to use based on actual situation.

9.Don’t get too close to yourself, avoid dropping it if you can even the impact of radiation is not great, try not to place it on the bedside. It is recommended to place it at least 2 meters away from yourself.

10.Try to keep the path between 4grouter and receiving device clear and avoid thick walls and large furniture directly blocking the signal.

11.In some cases, reflections can be used to enhance signal. For example, if 4g router is placed between two walls, the signal may be bounced between the walls so as to enhance coverage.

12.4g router need to be updated in time and cleaned regularly also, it is like our mobile phone, cached data will be generated when we use them, it will affect the network speed if it isn’t cleared for a long time. We can restart 4g router once a week to clear router cache junk, restore normal Internet speed and make WiFi signal more stable.
